Goodbye 2006!

To everyone I LOVE
(and you know who you are)...
wishing you the best year ever in 2007!
You know that we can do it . . . . so think it....thoughts become things!
Before you sit and reflect on kissing the old year goodbye and jotting down changes you want to make for 2007 - remember change starts with you! You can't change another person anymore than you can change the spots on a leopard! These rules might help you with your resolutions!
The 12 RULES for being human!
1. You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it will be yours the entire period.
2. You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called Life. Each day in this school you will have the opportunity to learn lessons. You may like the lessons or think them irrelevant and stupid.
3. There are no mistakes, only lessons.Growth is a process of trial and error: experimentation. The "failed" experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiments that ultimately "work."
4. A lesson is repeated until learned. A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it, you can then go on to the next lesson.
5. Learning lessons does not end. There is no part of life that does not contain its lessons. If you are alive, there are lessons to be learned.
6. "There" is no better than "here." When your "there" has become a "here," you will simply obtain another "there" that will again look better than "here."
7. Others are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects something you love or hate about yourself.
8. What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours.
9. Life is exactly what you think it is. You create a life that matches your beliefs and expectations.
10. Your answers lie inside you. The answers to life's questions lie inside you. All you need to do is look, listen, and trust.
11. You will forget all this.
12. You can remember it whenever you want.

If you are here, you know I love you! JudiRedhead

SCARY BOX

This is my new project. An old drawer from an antique dresser turned into a shrine of sorts. It is titled YARD SALE FAITH! I have been gathering old rosary beads, angel pins and other religious bling from yard sales and thrift shops. I collaged a lot of angel prints that I liked in the back wall...a copy of my late husband's funeral card on the side beside the lady. The lady is a plaster piece also from an estate sale. She was pretty and pastel colored and I changed her in to a dark ghost like image. I've always been attracted to religious symbols and more so to the things that people toss out. I think….this pin or rosary must have been important to someone at some time, how can I turn this in to ART? I have been working on this off and on for a year or more. I drag it out—put it away---drag it out—put it away! I put a piece of Styrofoam on the bottom and covered it with concrete patch and pressed the angel pins in to it while it was wet. I also have a set of alphabets that you press in to cement of plaster…I pressed in FAITH, you might be able to see it. Now, here’s the bottom line. Something about this art creeps me out and it stirs dark feelings and I keep it in a closet. Annie calls it Grandma’s SCARY BOX. I am going to change this piece of unfinished art in to something that I will want to see everyday. I bet you can’t wait to see it when it’s transformed! Me too! You can click on image to enlarge.

Attack of the Killer Duck

This photo will explain the relationship between me and my sister. I colored the little duck yellow and gave me a curly red hair do for more drama. She is ten years older than me. She thought this would be a cool photo, me holding a baby duck. HA HA, I suppose it was cute. What the camera does not show is the mother duck attacking me during my squashing of her baby. I have a scar on my lip and over my eye brow from this bright idea. Too bad she didn't have an old movie camera, I could call it 50's Jack-Ass show. I still hate ducks, chickens, geese and turkeys! We lived on a poultry farm. When I see these old photos I have to laugh. I might put this on my Christmas card to her, wouldn't that be cute? What would the tag line be? Thanks for the Christmas goose?

Funny Coat Story

This was in November 1992. My Mom and my friend since 7th grade, Mary.
Place: church. What was so funny? They had on identical faux fur coats!
They bought them at two different thrift shops! That was the funny part.
I laugh everytime I see this picture. Hey Mary, put this picture up on a "date me" web site!
Make sure you say..."I don't mountain climb!"
My Mom died in 1999. I miss you Mom! I see you everytime I look in the mirror, I see your chubby cheeks! :)

Keeping the love alive

Look to the Heavens and keep the love alive. We all have special people that can't be with us in body but will always be with us in spirit. Make a special place on your tree for that love. Love always feels good.
Special love to Lisa "OceanDreamer."

Sending everyone good cheer.

I'm doing the FINAL touches to the CHUNKY BOOKS! THEY are DONE...YAY! They are put together and wrapped in plastic zip lock bags...bubble wrapped in special boxes. Tonight I do the labels and go to the post office tomorrow! I am really excited for everyone to get their books! For me this will be the Christmas SMOOCH! I am so excited to get my decorating started. I bought a mirror at the antique mall to put inside my fireplace, behind the 25 candles. I carried it up the street that I will now call Cardiac Hill... to my car, drag it in my house and it doesn't fit! GRRRRRRH Oh well, I'll find another.
I have candles lit, Christmas music playing and cinnamon scent in a burner. YUMMY!
I am sending out special wishes tonight to Lisa, our OceanDreamer. I have her artwork beside a candle and everytime I walk by I envision a smile on her face.
Once again, I can't wait until the chunky books start appearing magically in mailboxes north, south, east and west!
I also have a GREAT BIG thank you to Kai! Holy COW, I felt like a 5 year old when I got your Christmas card today and it was post marked from the real NORTH POLE!

Excitement in the air!

This will always be the most magical time of the year for me. I'm looking forward to the first big snow fall and celebrating with friends. I'm opening boxes of Christmas decorations and having wonderful memories of special people that are gone but will live forever in my heart. I'm making special places on my tree for little reminders of them in celebration of the times we had together.
